Humanmade is a nonprofit Innovation Center, Hardware Accelerator, and Workforce Development hub located in the heart of San Francisco’s Design District. Our state-of-the-art facility provides hands-on training in advanced manufacturing, equipping individuals and businesses with the tools, skills, and resources needed to drive technological advancement and economic growth. By fostering creativity and technical expertise, we empower individuals to bring their ideas to life—developing solutions, products, and businesses that shape the future and improve the world around us.
Our Impact - Through Hardware
Hardware businesses, especially those supported through accelerator programs, generate significant economic activity through job creation, supply chain demand, and market expansion. Research indicates that for every job created in the durable manufacturing sector, approximately 7.44 additional jobs are generated in the broader economy. Companies that have originated at Humanmade are not only advancing technology but also strengthening the manufacturing sector and creating high-quality jobs. Hardware startups face unique challenges and the financial pathways to success are quite different from software companies. Humanmade is driven to make a positive economic impact on our region, our state, and our national industries by supporting of these hardware startups.

Our Impact - Through Workforce
When individuals earn a sustainable wage, they contribute to the economy through increased spending, tax contributions, and financial stability.
For every individual who completes Humanmade’s workforce training program and secures employment in advanced manufacturing, an estimated $56,160 flows into the local economy annually. Humanmade has placed over 150 individuals in manufacturing roles, which translates into more than $8 million in new wages each year. When looked at holistically, factoring in the broader economic impact beyond wages, those program graduates are generating more than $12 million annually. Our Workforce Training program is driving significant economic growth and strengthening local businesses, which transforming the lives of individuals.
